Registration is now open for the 2025 Joy of Medicine Summit, happening Saturday, September 27 at the Urban Hive in Sacramento (with a virtual option too).

This isn’t just another conference. These are the critical conversations we need to have: how to stay grounded when patients are misinformed but still need our compassion; how to spot burnout and show up for each other before crisis hits; and how emerging tools like AI might help lighten the load instead of adding to it.

We’ll have hands-on strategies, peer-to-peer connection, and a full breakfast to fuel it all. No cost to attend, up to 3 CMEs, and yes—there will be massage therapists onsite for those joining in person.

Interested in Joining the SSVMS Delegation to the CMA House of Delegates?

The Nominating Committee is currently seeking Active members who are interested in shaping health policy by becoming a member of the SSVMS Delegation to the California Medical Association (CMA) House of Delegates. Members of the Delegation are responsible for representing their colleagues at the CMA House of Delegates and actively participating in quarterly Delegation caucus meetings. In 2025, the House of Delegates will meet in Los Angeles October 18-19 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles in LA LIVE. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY OF THE MONTH

FENTANYL AWARENESS AND ACTION SUMMIT

ONSITE ASSISTANCE

The 2025 Fentanyl Awareness and Action Summit will be on Thursday, September 4^th, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Citrus Heights Event Center. The Summit is a full-day, free conference focusing on the issue of fentanyl, how it impacts our community, and the work being done to keep Sacramento safer.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with the conference. Please see additional details below regarding timing and tasks. We greatly appreciate any help you can provide!

Setting up for the event – begins 7am
Checking-in attendees – begins 8:30am
Assisting with setting up and serving morning refreshments – begins 8am
Assisting attendees and vendor staff throughout the conference
Assisting with setting up and serving lunch – around 12pm
Cleaning up the event from 4pm-6pm

Perfect opportunity for anyone interested in giving a few hours to help, from physicians to high school students needing community service hours for graduation.
